Project: A Healing Space with Heart and Heritage - Obs/Gyn Consultation Rooms

Our client approached MoTSO DeSIGNED with a clear need: to breathe life and personality into his dull consulting space while keeping it professional, soothing, and reflective of who he is - both as a healer and as an African man. He desired an environment that would feel calming for his patients and meaningful for himself.

In the consulting room, we designed a custom wallpaper mural featuring a baobab tree - an African symbol of strength and life that held deep personal meaning for the client.

Rendered in calming shades of blue, his favourite colour, the mural brings a sense of serenity and connection, creating a grounded, comforting space that supports trust and healing.

The Waiting Room...

In the reception area, we continued this narrative of warmth and identity. We created a custom canvas print featuring a graceful silhouette of a pregnant African woman, surrounded by botanical forms—symbolising fertility, beauty, and strength. Framed and placed in view as patients arrive, this piece sets a tone of calm reassurance and dignity.

To further layer cultural texture, we curated a wall installation of handwoven baskets in various patterns and tones - each piece chosen to reflect the richness of African craft. The sepia tones and earthy textures complemented the existing black leather and dark wood chairs, creating a space that feels elegant, thoughtful, and proudly local.

Project: Peacock Bloom Mural

A vibrant statement piece featuring a majestic peacock perched gracefully amid spring blossoms and ornate wrought iron detail. Set against a soft golden-pink backdrop, this mural adds a sense of regal elegance and botanical charm. Finished with a classic gold trim, it transforms the wall into a work of art—perfect for hallways or feature spaces that celebrate beauty and bold storytelling.

Project: Desert Serenity & Acoustic Wall Installation

Step into a tranquil fusion of art and function. This bespoke installation features wildlife canvas prints—transformative artworks that double as sound-proof acoustic panels. Each panel showcases majestic African animals in their natural habitat, bringing depth and soul to the space while softening sound for improved acoustics.

Complementing the imagery, the surrounding glass walls are wrapped in custom-printed sandblast film, depicting sweeping desert dunes. The frosted finish diffuses light beautifully, adds privacy, and evokes the calm, warm tones of an African landscape. This vibrant wallpaper mural was created to celebrate the beauty and abundance of nature’s harvest. Installed in a local vegetable shop, the design features high-resolution images of fresh produce - crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, vibrant bell peppers, earthy root vegetables, and more, arranged in a bold, eye-catching composition.

Project: Jungle Joy — Paediatric Radiotherapy Room Mural

To ease the anxiety of young patients undergoing radiation therapy, we designed a vibrant, animated jungle-themed wallpaper mural featuring cheerful animal characters. Installed in a paediatric radiology room, this immersive wallscape transforms the clinical space into a comforting, child-friendly environment where brave little ones can feel more at ease.

From smiling lions to playful monkeys and gentle elephants, each character was carefully illustrated to spark joy and imagination—softening the presence of intimidating medical equipment. The mural not only brightens the room but supports emotional healing by creating a safe, storybook-like atmosphere for children and their families.

Designed to bring serenity into a high-stress clinical environment, this custom wallpaper mural transforms the MRI radiation scan room into a peaceful forest escape. Towering trees, rich green foliage, and dappled light evoke the stillness of nature—creating a tranquil backdrop for patients undergoing treatment.

The mural softens the clinical feel of the room and offers a visual distraction that can reduce anxiety, especially for patients undergoing lengthy or repeat procedures. This biophilic design approach enhances emotional well-being and supports a more healing-centered atmosphere.

Project: “Golden Threads” — Mall of Thembisa Boardroom Installation

For the executive boardroom at the Mall of Thembisa, we crafted a refined visual identity that reflects both professionalism and cultural resonance. The centrepiece is a bespoke wallpaper mural featuring flowing golden threads across an ombré background that fades from soft grey to deep black - symbolising connectivity, progress, and resilience.

Integrated into the mural is the acronym T.H.E.M.B.I.S.A., elegantly rendered in gold, representing the mall’s core values and vision. The result is a space that inspires leadership and pride.

Complementing the mural, we installed custom window frosting with subtle branding elements for privacy and visual continuity. The frosted glass enhances the space with a clean, modern finish while maintaining a cohesive design language throughout the boardroom.

For this forward-thinking educational space, we designed two custom wallpaper murals that celebrate innovation, learning, and the power of imagination.

In the Library Zone, a 3D-rendered perspective mural adds depth and dynamism to the reading area. The immersive design draws students into a visually layered space that sparks curiosity and encourages exploration.

In the Technology Media Centre, the second mural showcases a series of vibrant scenes depicting children engaging with modern technology - coding, using tablets, robotics, and virtual learning tools. The artwork reflects the school’s commitment to preparing learners for a digital future, while making the environment relatable and inspiring.

Together, these murals bring the school’s vision to life - merging education, creativity, and technology in spaces where young minds are shaped.

Collaborative Highlight:

Large-format canvases featuring hand-selected African proverbs were placed throughout the clinic. These artworks serve as daily affirmations and gentle prompts for reflection, bridging traditional wisdom with modern therapeutic spaces.

Stucco-Effect Plaster Wall Finish
We introduced a textured stucco wall treatment to soften the space and add warmth. The tactile finish evokes natural African surfaces and supports a calming, earthy ambiance that complements the artwork and furnishings.

Clinic Signage & Public Information Branding
We developed soft yet impactful signage and information panels to guide visitors. This included culturally appropriate fonts, color palettes, and messaging that ensured accessibility, warmth, and clarity.
