MEET KGOMOTSO
Kgomotso Malope is the Founder and Creative Director of MoTSO DeSIGNED Interiors, a South African interior design studio rooted in cultural storytelling and Afrocentric elegance. Born and raised in the vibrant township of Tembisa, Kgomotso’s love for creativity began early—but her professional path initially led her into the sciences. She earned a B.Tech in Biomedical Technology (Microbiology) from the University of Johannesburg and built a distinguished career in medical diagnostics, holding senior roles at both the National Health Laboratory Services and Ampath Laboratories.
Yet, the call to create could not be ignored.
Inspired by a deep passion for design and a desire to set an empowering example for her two daughters—and for young African girls everywhere—Kgomotso made a bold career shift. She went on to study Interior Design at The Design School South Africa, embracing her creative purpose with conviction and clarity.
Today, she leads a growing brand that blends African heritage with contemporary design. MoTSO DeSIGNED Interiors is known for its bespoke, Africa-inspired wallpaper and home décor collections—each piece designed, printed, and manufactured in-house using advanced large-format technology. Every pattern tells a story, reflecting the rhythm, richness, and diversity of African culture.
With a design philosophy shaped by extensive travels across the continent—from Nairobi and Harare to Dakar and Cape Town—Kgomotso collaborates with local artisans and makers, incorporating their craft into her interiors. Her work is soulful, modern, and unapologetically African—an invitation to live boldly and beautifully, with culture at the core.
